The Concept
The Concept
The concept for 2move Dance Company comes from the need of talented (young) choreographers to concentrate on the creation of new works without spending their time on administration, publicity and production.
We offer performances where the public can get a better understanding of modern dance. To lower the threshold for acceptance of modern dance and to give an education in modern dance. To show the public what different choreographers do with the same material: 2 men. Showing short choreographies every evening has great diversity and never gets boring.
Furthermore, we have turned the roles around. Instead of the choreographer choosing the dancers, the dancers choose the choreographer, with all of the advantages that encompasses. For example, we can play any time, any place, without having to ask for a subsidy, or to depend on the dancers. Once a piece is finished we can perform it for many years to come, even let the theaters/festivals create their own programs.
2move Dance Company offers its participation free of charge. Collaborating with choreographers in making male duets which last 10-15 minutes. We film the rehearsals and have a small interview with the choreographers, which we then edit into a short film. 2move Dance Company pays for all the necessary expenses: costumes, studio rental, light plans, sales, publicity, and sells the works to international dance theaters/festivals. To make it more interesting for festivals and the public, we offer workshops in Classical Ballet, Modern Ballet, Modern Pas de Deux, Personal Master Coaching and Contact Improvisation. Additionally we offer City Improvisation (2move Dance Company will improvise in a specific location for approximately 30 minutes).
We are a non subsidized, innovative modern dance company. Unfortunately our concept does not fall within the restrictions set by foundations, however we have established such a great deal in only 1 year that we keep on going because of our passion for modern dance, and from all the reactions we have received from dance connoisseurs and our audience (which has generally never seen modern dance before).
This is why financial support is very important for us. in any form: donations, sponsoring or by selling our merchandise .
